This AR project aims to transform the way people engage with architectural heritage by combining augmented reality, storytelling, and game-based learning. Using the Ampire & Co. Building—a Queen Anne Revival style architecture in Shanghai — as the setting, we designed an AR experience guided by Paddington Bear to help users learn architectural features through exploration and interaction.

AR Experience

  • The front façade of the building (across the street) serves as the starting point, allowing users to observe the overall architecture.

  • Paddington Bear appears as a guide to lead the experience.

  • As users approach the window, they hear "indoor" sounds representing the evolution of the Queen Anne style across different historical periods.

  • These layered historical voices aim to give users a more concrete understanding of the Queen Anne architectural style.

  • Three puzzles introduce key features of the Queen Anne style.

  • A multiple-choice question tests users' initial understanding of the Queen Anne style.

  • Users return to the building’s front façade for final interaction.

  • At this stage, users can further test their understanding of the Queen Anne style.
